Every water-cooled PC leaks eventually — unless the leak is found before the machine ships. That is the idea behind the CGP test protocol: a loop is not finished when the last fitting is torqued. It is finished when it has survived 48 hours at full load without a single drop, a single degree over target, or a single error in the log. Every build that leaves the forge passes the same gauntlet.
Stage One: Fill and Leak Test
The loop is filled with deionized water and biocide — the same base fluid we recommend to owners — and run for 24 hours with the pump at full speed and the system powered down. Paper towels sit under every fitting, every block, and every pump seal. A micro-leak that would evaporate before you notice it stains the paper within hours. Fittings are re-torqued, O-rings are inspected, and the loop is re-tested until it is dry.
Stage Two: 48 Hours at Full Load
With the loop proven leak-free, the machine runs a full-load stress test for 48 continuous hours. CPU and GPU are pushed to maximum power, and the loop has to hold steady state: coolant temperature, component temperatures, and flow are logged throughout. This is where the real failures surface — an air pocket that causes pump cavitation, a block mounting that is a fraction of a millimeter off, a solder joint that fails under sustained heat. A loop that survives 48 hours at full load in a 45°C room will survive anything the owner throws at it.
What the Test Catches
- Micro-leaks at fittings and seals that only appear under pressure and heat.
- Air pockets trapped in the loop that starve the pump and cause cavitation noise.
- Hotspots from imperfect block mounting — visible only in the thermal log.
- Component faults — a pump or fan that fails under sustained load fails during the test, not on the owner’s desk.
The Guarantee
This is why every CGP system ships with the 48-hour pressure-tested and 100% leak-tested marks. They are not marketing labels — they are the result of a documented process that every build goes through. When you receive a CGP machine, the loop has already proven itself under conditions harsher than anything it will see in your home.
